Negative Self Image
"Many people do not realize that every time they wear a Cleveland Indians hat, they are wearing a logo that was made to insult and poke fun at Indians, especially Louis Sockalexis, a baseball player from my tribe. He was one of the first Native American baseball players and signed with the Cleveland Spiders. However, when he was on the team, the audience multiplied just to see the 'Indian' and mock him. After a few years he left the team and eventually they changed its name to the Cleveland Indians. Back on the Penobscot reservation, he taught young boys but suffered from alcoholism and tuberculosis, and died at age 42."
